Burghard 1946-2009 After a courageous fight for over 12 years, the loving, brilliant, charming and caring Sharon L.

Burghard of Aloha, OR lost her battle with cancer on Jan. 4, 2009. She was born on Nov. 15, 1946 to Vernon (deceased) and Lillian White in Lewist-on, ID and grew up in Spirit Lake, ID with her Mom, stepfather John Laws (deceased) and bother Vernon (Lenny) White, who lives with his wife Sharon in AR. When she was 15, the family moved to Thompson Falls, MT where she met her husband-to-be Ron Burghard and where her mother still lives.

They have two children, John and Melody, and have been blessed with four wonderful granddaughters (Kaytee and Char-lette from John and Orissa Burghard living in Vernonia, OR and Lily and Iris from Brian and Melody Emerick living in Portland, OR). Sharon obtained degrees in English from Montana State University (B.A.) and Idaho State University (M.A and Doctorate). She taught English at J. B. Thomas Jr.

High, Hillsboro, OR, becoming a US West Oregon Outstanding Teaching Finalist 1989. In recent years she focused on writing, until the cancer took its toll. She has lived throughout the West with most of her last 31 years in Oregon. There will be a celebration of her life open to the public, Jan. 22, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.

at the Glenn Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 E. Main Hillsboro, OR 97123. Her life in her words: I was born in November, on tax day, at the very beginning of the baby boom. I spent my summers in a logging camp while my friends stayed home and listened to Elvis. The rest of the time I lived in an Idaho lake resort town where I oogled rich doctors' sons and planned my getaway.

I conceived a son in Albuquerque and delivered him in California. He doesn't hold that against me. I spent the last day of May in 1971 at the Albuquerque Zoo and early the next morning gave birth to my daughter. Marie Ross was my fifth grade teacher. She taught me to believe in myself-that knowledge is power, and then she empowered me.

I teach because of her. I have sung Heartbreak Hotel to a thousand or more students and they'll probably remember that more that anything else I ever did in the classroom. Poems-I've written several hundred, and a few of them are good. I saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time when I was twenty-one and knew I had been looking for it all my life. I've skated on thin ice, and once I walked over a mile in thirty-five degrees below zero weather, but only because I didn't know it was that cold.

One year with my family, I followed Chief Joseph's path as he sought and fought for freedom. Soon after our journey, we adopted three wild horses and named one for him. People have praised me, loved me, respected me, hated me, resented me, teased me, used me, confused me-and I have let them. But there have been moments, a few precious moments, when I have known heaven. It is enough.

She preferred watercolors of the Southwest for her own work, but inspired many of her art students to become artists in various mediums. Harriet was born in Berkeley, California on December 27, 1919. She majored in art at the University of California in Davis, California and earned a Master's degree. She married Stephen H.

Rinney at the end of World War II, and was his devoted wife for more than 60 years until his death in 2007. Harriet was active in PEO and AAUW. Always physically fit, she skied into her 60s and played tennis into her 80s. In recent years, she lost her memories to dementia, probably Alzheimer's disease, but remained cheerful to the end. Harriet is survived by her sons, Stephen Charles and Warren, her daughters-in-law, Leslie and Nancy, and her grandchildren, Erin and Christopher.

Ronno, 56, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, passed away January 15, as a result of a CVA (cerebral vascular accident) while in the fullness of health.

Dana was surrounded in her final hours by her family and her dear friends, Robert Lopez, Linda Romero, Brenda Ortiz, and Lindy Lucero, who courageously assisted New Mexico Donor Services in realizing Dana's wish for maximum organ and tissue donation. Dana was a devoted daughter, loving mother, constant friend, and compassionate caregiver. Dana was preceded in death by her father, longtime Las Vegas physician Isaac Terr, and by her husband, Osamu Ronno. She is survived by her mother, Mildred Terr of Las Vegas, daughter Rebecca Ronno of Ransas City, MO, son Toby Ronno and his wife Michelle of Albuquerque, sisters Laurie Ascenzi and Nancy Terr and her husband Robert Behrendt of Allbuquerque, brothers Lewis Terr and Jim Terr of Santa Fe, Venanzio Ascenzi, and close family friend, Robert Lopez. Dana had a very special relationship with each of her nieces and nephews: Damon, Relly, and Jeffrey Terr, Francesca Ascenzi, and Neal Behrendt.

Dana included her aunt GG Michelson, cousin Barbara Michelson and cousins Julie and Robert Rosen in her immediate family. She leaves behind everybody she knew and loved, and those she had not yet met. Dana attended Las Vegas public schools and later earned her nursing degree from Luna and her BS from UNM Highlands. She was a nurse in Las Vegas at NortheasternAlta Vista for twenty-five years and also taught at Luna Vo-Tech. Dana was a consummate professional in her career, caring and skilled, and a leader in health education and policy.

Many of her patients are so grateful for the care she provided; they trusted her, were confident in her abilities and relied on her commitment to excellence. She made a real difference in the lives of her patients and their families. Dana was fully involved in living her life. She was bold, adventurous, curious, artistic, seemingly fearless, ready for lifelong learning and new travel experiences. Dana approached many new endeavors in her unique, heads-on style.

Dana was optimistic about the new year, having volunteered vigorously for Obama all fall. Dana loved gardening, in all its forms, and nature and beauty in general. She carried this nurturing quality into her profession and relationships, always encouraging others to develop their finest qualities, improve their lives, and cultivate healthy habits, be it starting a walking club for seniors, mentoring new nurses, teaching cooking or in any number of projects. Setting an example by going from a swimmer to an accomplished marathoner, she showed people how to "reinvent' themselves before Oprah made that a household word. Above all, Dana cultivated and carefully tended her friendships.

She showed true Taurus loyalty, and was proud of the friendships she maintained throughout her life. She cherished each and every person in her wide circle of friends. Dana truly loved Las Vegas, from the steamy Montezuma hot springs to the Polar Bear Plunge in Storrie Lake and an occasional run up Gallinas Canyon. Dana touched many people in the community through her work and generosity and left a legacy of friendship and kindness. Dana had such an incredible presence that we will all miss her and feel her absence keenly.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, January 19 at the United Methodist Church at 8th and National in Las Vegas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Dana's name to Doctors Without Borders or to the Dana Ronno Scholarship Fund at any State Employees' Credit Union, which will provide nursing scholarships. May her memory be for a blessing. LEMMLER Joan Darby Lemmler, 78, long time resident of New Mexico, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009.

December 5, 2008, at Canyon Transitional Rehabilitation Center in N.E. Albuquerque, her home for 17 months.

She is survived by her only child, Martha Sargent Channon and husband, Noel of Lynnwood, WA; two grandchildren, Edward Channon and wife, Paulette of Beverton, OR; and Elizabeth Channon Greene and husband, Ernie of Arlington, WA. Margaret was born March 16, 1913, in a house on Atlantic Avenue in S. W. Albuquerque. Her parents, William and Anna Bietz, built the well constructed and still standing multi story home at 423 Atlantic Avenue S.W.

Margaret graduated from the original Albuquerque High School, and from UNM in 1934, with a Bachelor of Science in Education and German. She taught in Albuquerque schools until her marriage to Samuel Malcolm Sargent in 1937. In addition to homemak-ing, she became an educator to her daughter. Margaret embodied a lifelong love of learning and hard work, with little respite, such was the German work ethic. Margaret loved her Lord.

Her faith and trust in her Savior only grew, despite the death of three husbands, S.M. Sargent, 1967; Perry Merrill, 1974; John Holland, 1990. Indeed, she sought to comfort and support her daughter only more. Margaret's strength in the face of such adversities including decades of pain, illness, and near total blindness, garnered respect from friends. Her amazing determination to maintain circulation and mobility is realized in her feat of amassing thousands of miles on an exercise bike.

She loved flowers, classical music, good friends, and her daughter, and her family. Special thanks goes to the staff at Canyon, to Hospice of the Sandias, to her church, Rev. Walquist, Alan Geuder, and most especially to her "Biblical Ruth-companion" Rarin Waldrop, who loved and cared for Margaret more than anyone in her daughter's absence. A Memorial Service will be held in early December 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 Gold Avenue S.E., Albuquerque. Memorials should be sent to Immanuel Lutheran School or to Immanuel Lutheran Hour.

She will be interred at that time next to Perry Merrill at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Always one to offer support to others and "rally the troops" to help out family and friends in times of need, Claudia was a force to be reckoned with. "Let's get organized" was her mantra and "I know I'm beautiful, tell me I'm efficient" was her personal motto.

In addition, she served on numerous boards, committees, and associations in the field of psychiatric social work. She held a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washburn University in To-peka, RS and a Master of Social Work from Arizona State University.
