Cooler temperatures will build in behind a storm system as it advances through the Upper Midwest. Sunny, hot and humid conditions will continue over the central and southern Plains with afternoon thunderstorms possible over much of the region. WORLD Thunderstorms were scattered over much of the West Monday, producing periods of heavy rain and gusty winds. The strongest storms occurred near Tucson, and in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Scattered storms also developed in southern Texas, causing 50 mph gusts near San Angelo.

On Saturday, August 19, 199S, she and her husband Demecio had renewed their wedding vows for their 50th wedding anniversary. Demecio and Julia were married at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, NM on August 19, 1945. She is survived by her husband, Demecio; four sons, Tony Gutierrez and wife, Nora, Max Gutierrez and wife, Carol, Pat Gutierrez and Orlando Gutierrez and wife, Yolanda; her sister, Ida Valdez; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons Junior, Peter and Paul, her father and mother Margarito and Ramona Trujillo, her sister Viola Sanchez and her brother-in-law Louie Valdez. She was a member of Women's Auxiliary DAV unit HI. She also was avid Bingo player. Funeral services for Mrs. Gutierrez will be held on Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.

with Father Francis Renfro, Celebrant. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Serving as pallbearers will be the members of DAV Chaptec.3. Honorary pallbearers will be DAV Auxiliary unit HI. Visitation will be held the mortuary chapel on Tuesday from 3:00 until 7:30 p.m.

A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Salazar and Sons Mortuary, 400 3rd St. SW. HARRISON Naomi Harrison, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1980, died Sunday, August 20, 1995. She is survived by her nephew, Howard Martin and wife, Patty of Oregon; and a host of dear friends.

Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University NE, with Mr. Ruben Mata and Mr. Richard May officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain Valley Cemetery, Barton, NM.

Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 Universi-ty Blvd. NE, Tuesday from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. JACKSON Mary A. Jackson, 95, a New Mexico resident since 1954, died Saturday, August 19, 1995 Albuquerque. A native of Forney, TX, Mrs.

Jackson was the beloved mother and mother-in-law of Mary Katherine and Frank D. Praytor with whom she had lived for 16 years. She was the widow of V.J. Jackson, prominent Alamogordo businessman, who died in 1977. In addition to the Praytors, Mrs.

Jackson is survived by daughters, Lillian Durham of Alamogordo and Doris Ellison Texas; four grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. Memorial services and cremains interment in Alamogordo are to be announced. The Praytors extend their gratitude to staff members Presbyterian Pickard Convalescent Center for loving and professional care they gave to Mrs. Jackson during her final months. LEIGH Barbara E.

Leigh, 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Saturday, August 19, 1995. She is survived by her husband, Ted A. Leigh Albuquerque; children, Judith Elaine Palmer of Ruidoso, NM, Phillip Kent Palmer of Las Cruces, NM, Mariam Rae Palmer-Mercer and husband. John of Fernwood, ID and Sandy White and husband, Bob of Denver, CO; sister, Garnet Wassem of Anchorage, AK; and brother, Phillip A. Wassem of New Smyrna Beach, FL.

Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE. MAC KENZIE Private interment services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 21, 1995 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M.

for James Thompson Mac Kenzie of Artesia, New Mexico. Cremation has taken place. Mr. Mac Kenzie, 58, died Thursday night, August 17, 1995 in Artesia. He was bom October 16, 1936 in Highland Park, Michigan to James Charles George Mac Kenzie and Sarah Bannigan Mac Kenzie.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1963. On December 18, 1959 he was married to Doris Masae in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mr. Mac Kenzie was a lieutenant with the Albuquerque Police Department for 27 years and Chief of Police the Artesia Police Department from 1984 until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

She is survived by her children, son, Billy and wife, Perri; daughter, Nita Aguilar and husband, Greg grandchildren, Randi Kaye and Brian Abbott; and stepgrandchildren, Glenda and Cody Aguilar; cousin, Carroline White, who was like a sister, and husband, Bob; and several aunts and uncles. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Haines Chapel, 5709 Haines Ave. NE, with Stake President Cayeta-no Aguilar officiating. ATENCIO Maria C. Atencio, 99 of Moriarty, NM, passed away Monday, August 21, 1995 in an Albuquerque nursing center. She was bom June 24, 1896 in El-Salado, NM to Emiterio and Manuela Anaya. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, a resident of Moriarty for 20 years, formerly of Walsenburg, CO, Anaheim, CA and Albuquerque. She married Elias (Lee) Atencio October 12, 1924 in Pueblo, Colorado.

He preceded her in death November 14, 1958. Maria is survived by nephews, Mike Anaa and his wife, Mary, Filandro Anaya and wife, Etella, Tomey Anaya and wife, Elnora, Gabe Anaya, Ralph Anaya, Tony Anaya and wife, Elaine, Carlos Anaya and wife, Shari, Art Baca and Aden Baca; nieces, Mary Conz, Rita Davis and husband, John, Mary Jaramillo and husband, Patricio; four grandchildren; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 1995 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with Mass being celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 1995 at the church.

Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Moriarty with Reuben Vigil, Tom Hastie, Pat Romero, Ralph Anaya, Lawrence Anaya, Tomey Anaya and Carlos Anaya serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Atencio will lie in state at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 1995.

CAPUTO Salvatore Ralph Caputo, 70, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past four years, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 1995. He was bom March 14, 1925 in Staton Island, New York to Joseph and Mary Lupinacci Caputo.

Salvatore had been an engineer with the Public Works Department of the City of Staton Island before his retirement. He was married to Gloria Bona on January 29, 1956 in Staton Island, NY, was a member of the Italian American Association of Rio Rancho, VFW of Rio Rancho, CBIVA, AMREP Bowling League and a Marshall at the Paradise Hills Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Gloria of Rio Rancho; children, Guy Caputo, Sally Jo Reshetnik and Joseph Caputo, all of Rio Rancho; one brother, Peter Caputo of Staton Island, NY; one sister, Marie Joan Rice of East Wallingford, VT; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be this evening, Tuesday, August 22, 1995 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Road at Meadowlark Lane, Rio Rancho.

The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 23, 1995 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Rio Rancho. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary. FENT-Margaret Fent, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, died Sunday, August 20, 1995.

She is survived by her nephew, J. Paul Davis and wife, Dorris of California; and close friends, Louise Chamberlain of Socorro, NM and Helen Settle of Albuquerque. Mrs. Fent retired from Socorro Consolidated School System where she taught for several years. Prior to teaching in Socorro she had taught at several other New Mexico communities.

SANCHEZ Ralphie S. Sanchez, 43, a resident of Belen, passed away on August 19, 1995. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She worked for the Central New Mexico Correctional Facility, was a former secretary of the Belen Chamber of Commerce and also worked with the Belen senior citizens. Mr. Scheer was bora in Sheboygan, WI on December 26, 1942 to John who preceded him in death and Beraice Scheer. He married Nancy 0' Buck in Los Alamos on November 7, 1987, Mr. Scheer received his BS and MS degree from the University of New Mexico. He served in the N.M.

Army National Guard. Mr. Scheer was a broadcast engineer for KOB and KHFM in Albuquerque. He worked as an electronics engineer at LANL. He was the proprietor of Scheer Electronics, doing electronic consulting and selling computers.

He was a member of the Montezuma Lodge No. 1, A.F. and A.M. presently serving as Senior Deacon. Mr.

Scheer was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also active within the local Republican Party. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Scheer; mother, Be mice Scheer; cousins, Nedra Westwater and husband, Norman and James Westwater, all of Santa Fe and George Scheer and wife, Judy of Pleasant Hill, OH; and numerous friends. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hospice Center, 988-2111, Montezuma Lodge Scholarship Fund, Grand Lodge Charity, 982-0971. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m.

Joseph's Hospital after a lengthy illness. Scott moved to Albuquerque with his family in 1971 and was a 1982 graduate of Eldorado High School. He was a member of the Eldorado Marine Corps Junior ROTC, and the Rosary Makers Society of St. Beroadette Catholic Church. Scott also served in an internship program with the Albuquerque Police Department, Traffic Division, in 1986.

Scott was nearing completion of a degree in Sociology in early 1987 when he was stricken with an illness that left him a quadraple-gic. Scott was able to complete his studies, however, through correspondence courses and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of New Mexico this past May. Scott is survived by his mother and father, Terry and Al Runyan, Colonel, USAF (Ret), who were his caregivers for the past eight years. Scott is also survived by his brother, Damon Runyan, LCDR, USN (Ret) and wife, Michelle of Albuquerque; sisters, Patricia Dickens and husband, Lee, SGTMAJ, USMC (Ret) of Albuquerque and Coreen Carrillo and husband, Lee of Las Cruces; and nephews and nieces, Alan Runyan-Beebe, LCPL, USMC, Michael and Kristine Runyan, all of Albuquerque, and Aaron Carrillo and Kristen Runyan. He was always a source of inspiration to all who met him and grew to love him.
