Wool Shearings Expected to Total 14,966,000 Pounds LAS CRUCES, N. Aug.

10 (m The Bureau of Agricultural Economics estimated Wednesday approximately 14,966,000 pounds of wool had been, or would be shorn in New Mexico in 1938. This was a second straight decrease, compared with 15,394,000 pounds clipped in 1937 and pounds in 1936. The report of Agricultural Statistician Fred Daniels estimated the number of head clipped in the state at 2,169,000, for an average weight per fleece of 6.9 pounds. Production in Texas in 1938 was estimated at 76,903,000 pounds, about 1,000,000 higher than in 1937. A smaller average weight per sheep shorn this year was about offset by the increase in the number of sheep shorn.

The total wool shorn in the nation for 1938 was estimated at 368,528,000 pounds, about up from 1937 and about the same increase over the five-year average. The estimated number of sheep shorn was 46,632,000, more than last year by about 600,000 head. Aug, 10 (API Uneasiness over persistent Russo-Japanese clashing together with enlarged export buying from the United States and Canada hoisted the Chicago wheat market 1 cents Wednesday. Some authorities said that as much as 9011.000 bushels of North American wheat was taken Wednesday for shipment to Europe, and Liverpool quotations were much higher than due a circumstance attributed here In great measure both to the Russia Japan situation and to Central European belligerence.

The United States Oovernment crop roprrt issued after trading was over for the day proved to be about as had been looked for regarding wheat but was a surprise relative to corn.
